I’m so excited to share that I’ll be a guest participant in the One Room Challenge! This will be my first time joining the fun 6-week design challenge—so yes, I’m a total noob over here. 😉 So, if you’re new around here, I welcome you to my little corner of the internet! My name is Kris and I’m from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where I share a home with my little family of three. This past year, I’ve worked on a few room transformations, but this is one space I’ve been more than eager to do.
If you’ve been following along on Instagram, then you’d know we’ve challenged ourselves with the task of giving our living room a much-needed makeover! Let’s take a peek at the not-so-lovely before photos, shall we? The room was never given much decor or personality, and as you can see, there’s an IKEA artwork of Amsterdam hanging on the wall that we’ve owned for 10 years…#AllTheShame
- Add color to the room – This is a huge one for me! I still want to keep it light and bright, but I need a little surge of color that isn’t too overwhelming, but enough to put a smile on my face every time we step into our home. 🙂
- Storage for the Hubby’s endless record collection – I truly believe that the KALLAX system from IKEA is amazing for record storage BUT having them all out on display isn’t aesthetically pleasing to this mama’s eyes.
- Cozy without sacrificing style – I want our living room to be a space where my little dude can throw himself on the couch without me breaking a sweat, at the same time I want to implement elements of luxe like marble that can still be kid-friendly. Can you even say marble and kid-friendly in the same sentence? 😉 I’m also going to look for a good quality rug that will last us a long time so I will need to look into this rug design guide, how to choose a luxury rug.
Stay tuned for the next six weeks leading up to the reveal, where I share all the details of our living room makeover with the One Room Challenge! Make sure to check all the participants and the amazing spaces they’ll be doing! I have a few friends participating, and I can’t wait to see their process too. 🙂
